Proposition 65

For California Customers

warning signProposition 65

Proposition 65 is a California law that requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to potentially dangerous chemicals to help them make informed decisions about their exposures to these chemicals. It also requires the state of California to publish a list of chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. The list has grown to include approximately 900 chemicals since it was first published in 1987. Companies will need to issue Proposition 65 warnings based on their knowledge about the presence of a listed chemical in their products.

Through the years, Shor-Line has worked to minimize or eliminate risk and hazardous chemicals in our products for customers, and just as importantly, for the animals under their care. We recognize the need to continuously seek better and safer chemicals, products, processes and suppliers.

This understanding has led us to develop UL safety-rated product lines, to conduct chemical compatibility testing, to adopt ASTM testing protocols, and to field test new products constantly. Shor-Line will stay on this path as we continue to serve the animal care community in California and elsewhere.

Shor-Line has chosen to provide this warning based on the potential presence of one or more chemicals in our products listed on the Proposition 65 list. (For more information, go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.)

For our products shipping into California, the warning sign below (or similar) will be posted on some or all of our products, product guides and/or packing lists.

warning signWARNING: These products can expose you to chemicals that are known by the State of California to cause cancer. For more information, go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.

To the best of our knowledge, the following are the materials used (or once used) to produce products with chemicals on the Proposition 65 list. Shor-Line will be abundantly cautious with the use of Proposition 65 warning notification on potentially affected products.

Stainless Steel: Nickel Nickel is an element found in Stainless Steel that is stable in the metallic form.
Moisture Resistant Particle Board: Formaldehyde Found in particleboard in less than 0.1% by weight. Particleboard manufactured in the U.S. must meet CARB criteria. Shor-Line has sought and successfully replaced particleboard in several product lines.
Adhesive/Sealants:Tetrachloroethylene, Titanium Dioxide These are stable products. Under normal conditions, hazardous decomposition of these products should not be produced.
