Housing Ventilation Options

The air quality is important in each housing unit. Because animal housing is often against walls and in corners, the microclimate inside any given cage could present problems. Active ventilation helps mitigate this.

Ventilation System Reduces Odors and Provides Fresh Air

Good air exchange is an important part of maintaining a healthy living area for animals. Especially in larger facilities, there could be dozens of animal kennels, and each kennel will have its own microclimate.

Any kennel could have great air quality or a lack of ventilation. The glare of a window or just a dead space in the HVAC system could leave one or more kennels with poor to dangerous air quality. The solution is an active ventilation system.

The patent-pending Shor-Line system is designed to work with Shor-Line cages. We customized it to maximize air circulation (without causing drafts) while mimimizing the impact on animal floor space.

Standard Cage Ventilation

Standard Cage Ventilation

Shor-Line cages are built with good airflow and ventilation. But you will want to check for areas of stagnant air, especially in corners and along walls. This is where active ventilation can help kenneled animals.

The rectangular air plenum sits between two cages and gently sucks out the air. Typically, customers run ventilation to all the cages in the standard bank.

The key is the ability to balance the air exchange between the top and bottom cages. It is most effective on two-high cage banks. This system attaches to your fan system.

Stainless Steel Cat Suite

The active ventilation system for the Stainless Steel Cat Suite fits between the litter and the main unit. It is located high on the cage wall so curious paws don't interfere.

This is most effective on a bank of cages. The two litters run next to each other (as shown in the photo) and the rectangular air plenum sits between the two sides. It gently sucks the stagnant air up without causing drafts.

There is an adjustable balance between the upper and lower cages that keeps the air moving. The system attaches to your fan system.

Feline Serenity Suite

The Feline Serenity Suite ventilation runs much like the Stainless Steel Cat Suite.  The system sits in the space between the litter area to gently pull out stale air and replace with fresh air.

The vent is high up in the top corner to avoid curious paws and to remove warmer, stagnant air. The Shor-Line system is effective because of its ability to balance air flow from the bottom and top units.

The rectangular air plenum is custom designed to fit in Shor-Line cages, and the location between the litters avoids interference with pass throughs.

The system attaches to your fan system with a 4"W ventilation pipe.

Feline Comfort Suite

For the Feline Comfort Suites, the polycarbonate door units especially benefit from active ventilation. "Dead air" spaces in corners can limit air circulation.

The Shor-Line System has a long air plenum that attaches to the far corner of the main living area. The rectangular piece stays secure with high strength magnets, creating a triangular-shaped air plenum.

The daisy-shaped vent at the top adjusts with a screwdriver. The lower unit takes a rectangular vent installed in the top corner.

This attaches to a 4"W vent to gently pull stale air out and fresh air in without creating drafts. Simple adjustments between the  top and bottom vents to generate a gentle, balanced air flow between the units.
