This type of information is collected and shared on an anonymous, aggregated basis meaning that we do not connect this information to your name or other personal information.
Personal information (non-financial)
We collect all or some of the following personal information in the following contexts:
Account Registration:
With Shor-Line’s My Account feature you will be able to create a wish list, obtain quotes, review past quotes and have access to valuable resources. To register for a Shor-Line Account, we collect the following information: email address, name, company, profession, title, address, city, country, state, zip code and phone number.
Requests:
We collect information volunteered by users, including from requests via “Contact Us” and “Technical Support”. In these areas we also collect information about products you have purchased. We also may collect email addresses of those who communicate with us via email for the purpose of replying to asked questions. When communicating with customers, we may collect additional information needed to fulfill customer requests and/or orders.
Financial Information
When you place an order on the phone with us, standard credit card information (card number, card type, expiration date, etc.) is collected through a third-party payer who is compliant with Payment Card Industry data security standards. The information could include company name, first and last name, mailing address, phone number, email address, invoice number, payment information and bank account information. The third-party payer provides us with, and we store the last four digits of your credit-card number, which is retained for purposes of issuing applicable refunds. We may also refer you to a third party for financing options. Please refer to the third party’s privacy policy when undertaking equipment loans or other financing options.
What do we do with the information we collect?
We process your information for the legitimate interest of communicating with customers, prospective customers and other users about, and to provide access to, our top-quality animal healthcare products. Processing your information for the purposes described is necessary for us to do what we do and it’s in both of our interests. When we use your information based on our legitimate interests, we conduct a balancing test based on the legitimate interest, necessity of processing your information, and how such processing impacts you.
If you have any questions or concerns with us processing your information for this legitimate interest, please reach out to us by emailing us at privacy@shor-line.com.
We’ll ask for your consent before using your information for a purpose that extends beyond what you may reasonably expect from an animal health products company and that has a more significant privacy impact.
Data in aggregate:
We may disclose “blinded” aggregated data and user statistics to prospective partners and other third parties, and for other lawful purposes. Blinded data is data which does not identify an individual person.
Other:
We also may disclose your information in special cases. For example, when we believe that we must disclose information to bring legal action against someone who may be violating our Terms of Use or causing injury to us, our property, our website, our customers, or others. We may disclose visitor information when subpoenaed, if ordered or otherwise required by a court of law, arbitrator, or similar proceeding, for government investigations, with government agencies if required by law, and when we otherwise believe in good faith that the law requires it.
We occasionally hire other companies to provide limited services on our behalf, including website development and operation, preparing marketing materials, sending postal mail or email, analyzing website use, job applications, processing payments and processing data. We will only provide those companies the information they need to deliver the service, and they are prohibited from using that information for any other purpose.
As we continue to develop our business, we may buy or sell businesses or assets. In such transactions, confidential customer information generally is one of the transferred business assets. In the event of such a transaction, customer and site visitor information may be one of the transferred assets and may be disclosed in connection with negotiations relating to a proposed transaction. In that case, the transferred information may become subject to a different privacy policy.
